A little bit about me
I'm Meredith — or Mez — and Hounds of Hull is my one-to-one dog grooming salon in East Hull.
Our approach
One dog, my full attention
Today I'm a City & Guilds Level 2 and Level 3 qualified dog groomer and grooming tutor, working both in the salon and teaching the next generation of groomers. I've helped students through their qualifications and watched many go on to build successful grooming businesses of their own, which I'm incredibly proud of.
Hounds of Hull is deliberately different from a busy, traditional salon. I work strictly one-to-one, so there are no dogs waiting around and no production line of appointments. For the time your dog is with me, they have my full attention.
I'm particularly passionate about canine behaviour, coat care and treating every dog as an individual, and I'm canine first aid certified, so your dog is in safe hands from start to finish. Their comfort and wellbeing will always come before achieving a particular look.

Where it all started
It began with a Border Terrier called Sheriff
My journey into grooming started with my Border Terrier, Sheriff. I wanted to learn how to hand strip his coat properly, so I decided to learn for myself. What began as simply wanting to do the best for my own dog eventually became a whole new career, and Hounds of Hull was born.
Sheriff sadly isn't with us anymore, but this business will always be part of his legacy. He's the reason I started grooming in the first place and, ultimately, the reason Hounds of Hull exists.

Nikki — Chief Cuddler
My partner of 25 years and very much part of Hounds of Hull. She's usually somewhere behind the scenes, keeping everything (and occasionally me) on track, and making sure no dog leaves without an entirely unnecessary amount of fuss.
Doris — Chief Supervisor
My other Border Terrier, who has inherited Sheriff's role as chief supervisor but has considerably less interest in my professional qualifications.
Humanity over vanity
I don't believe every dog should be groomed in exactly the same way. Sometimes that means adapting the groom, working at a slower pace or changing the plan to suit the dog in front of me. Comfort comes first, every time.
