Your data, looked after

Privacy Policy

We only ask for the details we genuinely need to look after you and your dog, we keep them safe, and we never sell them to anyone. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Last updated: 11 September 2026.

Who we are

Hounds of Hull is a one-to-one dog grooming business based in Hull. We are the "data controller" for the personal information you share with us. If you have any questions about this policy or your information, you can reach us at hohdoggrooming@gmail.com or on 07477 512869.

What we collect and why

We only collect what we need to respond to you and provide our grooming service:

  • When you contact us (through the enquiry form, by email, phone or message): your name, email address, phone number and the details of your message. We use this to reply to you, arrange appointments and provide the grooming service you've asked about.
  • When you sign up to our updates: your email address, so we can send you occasional news and offers. You choose to opt in, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
  • When your dog visits: details you give us about your dog's health, behaviour and coat, so we can groom them safely and comfortably.

Our lawful basis

Where you contact us about an appointment, we process your information because it's necessary to take steps at your request and to provide our service. Where you sign up for updates, we rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. In some cases we rely on our legitimate interest in running the business, keeping proper records and looking after your dog's welfare.

Cookies

Our website is deliberately simple. We do not use tracking, analytics or advertising cookies, and we don't build profiles of visitors or share your browsing with advertisers. You won't be nagged by a cookie banner because there's nothing non-essential to consent to.

Who we share it with

We never sell your information. We only share it with trusted service providers who help us run the website and our email and appointment systems (for example our website provider and their secure hosting and email services), and only so they can provide those services to us. We may also share information where we're required to by law, or to protect the welfare of an animal.

Reviews

We display genuine reviews that customers have chosen to leave about us on Google. Those reviews are managed by Google under its own terms and privacy policy. If you leave us a review on Google, it's public on Google's platform.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and appointment details for as long as you're a customer and for a reasonable period afterwards (normally up to 24 months from your last contact with us), so we can look after repeat visits and keep proper records. If you've signed up for updates, we keep your email address until you unsubscribe.

Keeping it safe

We take reasonable steps to keep your information secure and limit access to only those who need it to help us look after you and your dog.

Your rights

You have the right to ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to correct anything that's wrong, to ask us to delete it, or to object to or restrict how we use it. You can also withdraw your consent to marketing emails at any time. Just get in touch and we'll help.

Complaints

We'd always rather you came to us first so we can put things right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page.
